
Technology Plan - Parent Survey
DeKalb School District is collecting data from our parents in regards to technology. The data will be used for the purpose of developing a three-year Technology Plan for the district. You can complete the online survey that is available below or on the homepage for each school. If you do not have computer access, please feel free to utilize the computers at the public library or your child’s school.

Students Involved with Technology (SIT) Conference
The 2010 SIT Conference will be held on Saturday, February 20th at Cortland Elementary. This is a great opportunity for our students to present on a technology topic of their choice or to participate by visiting presentations of other students. More information can be found at the SIT website, www.sitconference.org. Click here to register online to attend the conference. Space is limited! Deadline to register is January 29, 2010 or until spaces are filled.
Breaking News! SIT Conference Update: This year's conference will feature TWO keynote speakers - NASA Astronaut Robert Satcher, Jr. and Dr. Aaron Parness (former District 428 student).
Astronaut Satcher just returned from space aboard STS-129 and was previously an attending physician (orthopedic surgeon) at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Parness is employed at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Los Angeles, California doing work related to robotic missions to Mars. His doctoral study was focused on studying the movement of gecko lizards and developing robots that can climb vertical walls. His research has been featured on Animal Planet and Discovery Channel.

Wright Elementary enrollment forms for the 2010-2011 school year are now available. Click here to view or print. Fourth Street, DeKalb; or Wright Elementary, Rt. 38, Malta.

District 428 - Illinois and National Teacher of the Year (1954)

Former District 428 educator and administrator, Willard Carl Widerberg (second from left), and his family, is greeted in the White House in 1954 after being named Illinois and National Teacher of the Year. The Illinois legislature has asked the Illinois State Board of Education to rename the Illinois Teacher of the Year Award as the Willard Carl Widerberg Illinois Teacher of the Year Award.
