DeKalb High School Profile

 Welcome Message from the Principal:

On behalf of the entire staff, welcome to DeKalb High School. We hope that all of our students, parents, staff, and other community stakeholders feel they are part of an inclusive school culture where everyone is respected, valued, and has a voice in the process of improving the educational opportunities for students here at the school. There are several ways that any student can become engaged in activities at DeKalb High School outside the classroom. Whether it’s participation in: a school sponsored extra-curricular club, the fine arts, or sports; there is a broad variety of available activities that can help enrich every student’s high school experience. My personal wish is for each of our students to have a positive and meaningful connection to DeKalb High School, outside the context of just attending class. If I can be of any assistance in helping your child to realize this objective, please let me know.

If for any reason you cannot find specific information contained here, please contact us by phone or e-mail using the directory that follows this message.

Sincerely,

Douglas J. Moeller, Principal

Important Upcoming Events:

DHS Summer Marching Band Camp (8/2 -8/6; 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) - Registration form (completed forms due prior to 7/10/2010)

WELCOME TO DHS SUMMER SCHOOL & SOAR

All classes will meet from June 16 through July 21, Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 12 pm at CRMS.   Students who successfully complete summer school will earn 0.5 credit.   A non-refundable fee of $165 is payable to Rachel Happ in the DHS main office unless the student is a participant in the free/reduced ($82.50) lunch program.  The summer school fee may be paid M-F from 7 am-3 pm at DHS in the main office.

Several important pieces of student information

·         After two absences or 4 tardies or a combination of absences and tardies; a student will not receive credit for the course he/she is enrolled in.

·         There are no groupings of absences, no doctor’s notes, etc.  Court dates do count as an absence.

·         A student will be marked tardy 1-10 minutes after class has started.  After 10 minutes, a student will be marked absent.

·         Due to the fact that there are several summer school programs in session, students must remain on the second floor at all times while summer school is in session.  Only use the bathrooms on the second floor, where your classroom is located.

·         Students may not leave school grounds while summer school is in session.

·         Students are to leave the building at noon and not linger in the building or on school grounds.  Students are to enter and exit the building only through doors #18, #20, and #22.

·         Students who are driving to school must park behind CRMS and enter the building only through doors #18, #20, and #22.
