Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program
Your child may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals
Children from households that receive Food Stamps or TANF benefits are eligible for free meals. Children from households that meet Federal Income Guidelines are determined eligible for either free or reduced-priced meals. The Price meals for District 428 Schools are as follows:
Breakfast Cost:
Grades K – 5 (at participating schools) $1.55 for full price students
Grades 6 – 12 (at participating schools) 1.65 for full price students.
Lunch Cost:
Grades K – 5 $2.10 for full price students.
Grades 6 – 12 $2.20 for full price students
Families qualifying for reduced price meals will pay $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch
To apply for free or reduced priced meals, use the Household Eligibility application. One application per household is all that needs to be filled out and sent in to any school office or the Administration Building in care of the Food and Nutrition Services Department. A new or revised application can be submitted at any time during the school year. So if you are not eligible now but have a decrease in household income, an increase in household size, or become unemployed, you can fill out an application at that time.
It is important to remember that Free and Reduced Meal applications must be filled out every year, unless you receive a letter that your child has already been approved for the current year. If you do not receive a letter for each child in your household, please contact Food Service at 815 – 754 - 2162. Use one application for all of the students in your household. All information is confidential.
Applications are available at any school office and at the District's Food Service Office located at 901 S. 4th Street, or by clicking on the links below. Spanish applications and information are also available.
