Clinton Rosette Music Program

Attention all NEW band or orchestra students. You need to be signed up for band or orchestra. Call the school office if you are not signed up yet.

6th Grade Band

--This is a full year elective course in which students will learn the fundamentals of playing a band instrument and reading music. Beginning band students will be ?fitted? for the band instrument which will both match the physical characteristics and desire of the student, and produce a balanced instrumentation for the band program. Small group pull-out lessons provide the instruction time for students to learn everything from assembling and caring for their instrument to correct posture, tone production, note and rhythm identification. There will also be one full band rehearsal a week for the students to learn to play together as an ensemble. Concerts will be presented throughout the school year.

Materials and Supplies:
- Quality band instrument (there is an increasing number of inferior instruments appearing in both retail stores and on web sites), instrument case, reads, valve oil.
- Method book: Essential Elements 2000 Book I approx cost: winds $8.00/percussion $16.50
- Concert wear: black shoes/socks, black skirt/pants, white top


7th Grade Band

--This is a full year elective course that is a continuation of the beginning band program. Students in 7th Grade Band must have had at least one year experience on a band instrument. Students will continue to develop their reading and playing skills while also performing band literature suitable for a young band. Band students will continue to receive a pull-out lesson on their instrument once a week. The full band will rehearse daily. In the fall and late spring, marching band will also be incorporated into the rehearsal schedule, with a few possible after school rehearsals required. Other band events include participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest, IMEA District Festival and NCJC Music Festival.

- Black shoes & socks; Uniform cleaning: $10

 


8th Grade Band

--This is a full year elective course that is a continuation of the intermediate band program. Students in 8th Grade Band must have had at least two years experience on a band instrument. Students will continue to read and play more advanced band literature. Band students will continue to receive a pull-out lesson on their instrument once a week. The full band will rehearse daily. In the fall and late spring, marching band will also be incorporated into the rehearsal schedule, with a few possible after school rehearsals required. Other band events include participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest, IMEA District Festival and NCJC Music Festival.
