This course is an introduction to group behavior and the influences of society on the “individual”. Its main purpose is to acquaint the student with the basic vocabulary and concepts of sociology. The class focuses upon the use of sociological perspective to examine culture, social structure, the individual in society, social institutions, and social inequality. Units covered include: culture and society, socialization and social structure, social class and its effect on behavior, deviance, and the social creation of race.

Moodle is a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching. Moodle enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, online quizzes, an academic resource center, and more.
Student will have access to syllabi, handouts and have the ability to turn in papers on line.
