World Geography

World Geography I

Semesters:     1 and/or 2                             .5 Credit per Semester

Grade Placement:      9,10,11,12                                 Elective

The study of World Geography/Cultures I will focus on the Middle East and Africa.  World Geography/Cultures I is designed to emphasize the five themes of geography and cultures within those regions. The course will begin with a review of the basic skills of geography.  Each unit will address the following: physical features, political geography, human interaction and culture, social economic issues, and historical events shaping the present day culture.  Some of the cultural aspects that will be studied are: religion, social structure, and customs and beliefs.

 

World Geography II

Semesters:     1 and/or 2                             .5 Credit per Semester

Grade Placement:      9,10,11,12                                 Elective

Prerequisite:  Successful completion of World Geography I

 

The study of World Geography/Cultures II will focus on the study of Central Asia, South and Southeastern Asia and Latin and South America.  World Geography/Cultures II is designed to emphasize the five themes of geography and cultures within those regions.  Each unit will address the following: physical features, political geography, human interaction and culture, social economic issues, and historical events shaping the present day culture.  Some of the cultural aspects that will be studied are: religion, social structure, and customs and beliefs.
