Important Information

The Senior class picnic will be on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Katz Park. If it rains, the picnic will be moved into the cafeteria.

MANDATORY GRADUATION PRACTICE is on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Convocation Center from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Students who do not participate in this mandatory practice will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony on June 8, 2013

DeKalb High School Graduation is set for June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Convocation Center on the NIU Campus. Students must arrive at the Convocation Center at 9:00 a.m. and meet downstairs in the Victor E. Gymnasium.

To call in a student absence, please dial (815) 754-2125 as soon as possible.

Important Upcoming Events:

Senior Awards Night will be on Wed., May 22, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the DHS auditorium. Students/parents will be notified by letter if receiving an award.

Last day of Senior attendance is Thursday, May 30, 2013

Baccalaurate will be on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

A message from the Principal:

On behalf of the entire staff of DeKalb High School, I would like to share our excitement about the great things happening at DHS. As we move into the second semester, we remain committed to our Professional Learning Teams. Our teams work on Common Core State Standards, Common Formative Assessments, interventions, supports, and enrichments for the students. The teams meet every Wednesday during "early release" time.

DeKalb High School is also committed to using effective approaches to embed literacy throughout content areas. We have two certified instructional coaches who are committed to working with teachers and students. They provide support in a variety of ways including the effective use of instructional teaching strategies in the classroom. Additionally, we continue to have a strong partnership with NIU through STAR tutoring and the co-teaching model. The STAR tutoring program offers additional resources for our students after school.
