Attention all Graduating Seniors: This is a reminder that your graduation CAP & GOWN pick up is today and tomorrow, 5/28 & 5/29 during lunches. All of your school fees are due before you can pick up you CAP & GOWN. Please refer to Mrs. Happ or the library, to pay your fees or if you have any questions.
Attention juniors -- Students taking AP United States Government next fall should go to E204, Mrs. Stafstrom's classroom today, to pick up their summer homework.
Attention sophomores who plan to take AP U.S. History next year: Please attend the summer homework meeting on Friday, May 31 in Mrs. Vest's room E104. If you cannot attend, see Mrs. Vest.
Attention all students enrolled in AP Spanish 5 next year: If you missed Tuesday's summer homework meeting, please pick up your summer homework packet from Mrs. Jennings in W110.
Prom pictures are in! If you ordered professional photos at prom, please stop by Mrs. Vest's room E104 right after school today to pick them up.

Summer School -
Information regarding summer school for students enrolled in government, economics education, HE I/II, speech, world geography, honors western civilization, and SOAR will be mailed the week of June 3rd.
Students who will need to enroll in credit recovery math will be sent their summer school information the week of June 10th.
All Badminton equipment must be turned in this week & information on badminton camp is available in the AD office along with open gym schedules.
Seniors: It’s time to request your final transcripts for college from Ms. Stellatos. Please stop by her office and pick up the form. Make sure you do this before you leave for the summer.
Kishwaukee Family YMCA - Lifeguard Class Dates
May 22nd – 25th

The fees for the certification class are:
- $225 for YMCA Members
- $250 for Non-Members

The DHS Outdoor Adventure Club's upcoming trip is called 'The Amazing Race'. The amazing race is a bike ride and scavenger hunt around DeKalb. Students will use a GPS to bike around DeKalb and find clues. Students can learn more about it by talking to Mr. Petrov or Steven McMaster or Kerry Campagna.
DHS is proud to announce the Barb Sparkles Cheer Team – Through guidance provided by The Sparkle Effect (thesparkleeffect.org) DeKalb is the 93rd team to join this very important effort. This innovative student-run program empowers teens to include students with disabilities in school-based cheerleading. This team is truly inclusive: typically-developing students and students with disabilities practice and perform as one team at school sporting events.
The Kishwaukee Family YMCA is currently hiring certified lifeguards. Any currently certified lifeguard who is interested in working at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA can contact me or go to our website for an application. Proof of current Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification is required.

The Senior Class picnic will be on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Katz Park. If it rains, the picnic will be moved into the cafeteria.
MANDATORY GRADUATION PRACTICE is on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Convocation Center from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Students who do not participate in this mandatory practice will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony on June 8, 2013.
DeKalb High School Graduation is set for June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Convocation Center on the NIU Campus. Students must arrive at the Convocation Center at 9:00 a.m. and meet downstairs in the Victor E. Gymnasium. There is no need for tickets to attend graduation as it is being held at the Convocation Center; there is plenty of seating.

Attention all football players: Get your camp registration into the athletic offices as soon as possible. Equipment will be handed out before the end of the school year for those that signed up for camp. First camp starts June 10.
Come to the Barb Food Mart, located at Huntley Middle School by the tennis court, on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. It opens on June 20, 2013.
School Vegetable Gardens: DHS and DeKalb County Community Gardens have partnered to grow free fresh organic vegetables for you and your family. For any questions, please contact Sheryl Nakonechny at
snak974@comcast.net . She will let you know harvest times and volunteer opportunities to help with the garden. Any excess produce will be donated to a local food pantry.
The Kishwaukee United Way is having their 9th Annual Day of Caring VOLUNTEER DAY on June 20, 2013. In this community-wide event, volunteers are matched with non-profit organizations that can use some help with projects such as baking, gardening, serving and delivering meals, crafts, reading, bingo and others.

The DeKalb High School Volleyball Program's Summer schedule has been released! We will once again be running a High School Camp and will have various open gym and lifting times throughout the month of July. Camp registration forms, informational letters, and July calendars are now located in the DHS Athletic office and are available on the DHS Athletic Homepage too. Make sure you get all the information soon!
This summer, the DuPage County Hounds are offering a free minor league baseball ticket to a game through there Good Grades Program. Eligible students must receive all A's or B's on their report cards. Along with a free ticket, each student will also receive a concession voucher and other special prizes. Flyers are available in the guidance office.

It’s time to stock up on your favorite Market Day food for the summer. The DeKalb High School Music Department offers Market Day monthly. Sheets are available in the main office and by calling Angel Smith at 815-754-2120. You can order online using code #21072 for DeKalb High School Music. The cut off for the next sale is orders in by May 24th and pick up is May 28th 3:00 to 4:30 in the DHS Music area.
Anyone graduating seniors interested in becoming an IHSA official should stop by the athletic office and see Dr. Houy. The IHSA is looking for graduating seniors that wish to stay active in athletics following their high school careers.
The only potential course offerings available through the 2013 DHS summer school program are algebra (semesters 1 & 2) and geometry (semesters 1 & 2). Registration packets are available in the main office.
When the school district has late buses as we sometimes do, Brenda Jergens in Transportation, as a rule, calls the schools directly affected with the bus information and approximate time of arrival. She also posts the LATE BUS information on the district website under the transportation link in the “announcements” section.
