Art Club

Club Info:
Enrollment is open year round for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Projects range from ceramics to painting to creating safety posters to woodworking. There is a $10.00 fee per semester to help pay for supplies.

Meeting Times:
Tuesdays from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in room 119

Builders Club 

Club Info:
The club is sponsored by Kiwanis, is for students who want to take positive, constructive action to build a better world for themselves and others. Builders Club meets on Thursdays after school under the sponsorship of Mrs. Omerod and Miss Tribble. 

Meeting Times:
Builders Club meets in the media center from 2:35 - 3:45 p.m. on the following dates -

Choir

Club Info:

Choir this year will participate in 4 concerts, IMEA Auditions and Festival, IGMSA solo/ensemble contest, IGSMA Choral Organizational contest, NCJC Festival and school assemblies.
  
The Junior Madrigal Troupe is in its second year at Huntley Middle School this year.  The group will consist of 8-12 auditioned singers who will sing a cappella music. Madrigals MAY continue in the spring with student desire and teacher availability.

Meeting Times:
6th grade choir meets everyday during 1st period exploratory.  There is a $15 fee to join choir to cover the cost of the uniform.

7th / 8th grade choir meets during 5th period (8th grade exploratory/7th grade lunch).  Those 7th graders who sing in choir switch lunches.  8th grade band students participating in choir are on a sharing program with band.  7th grade band or orchestra students, eat their lunch for the first 10 minutes of class, sing for the last 25 and then go to band or orchestra during 6th period.  There is a $15 fee to join choir to cover the cost of the uniform.

Junior Madrigals will meet after school on Monday's and Tuesdays till 3:50 and on some noted Wednesdays.  Closer to the Madrigal Dinner, rehearsals will be till 4:50.

Forensics/Drama Club

Club Info:
Forensics – The Forensics Team, open to 7th and 8th grade students, will display a combination of “official” Forensics events seen at the high school level, as well as a variety of monologues and short skits. There is a final presentation of all events in December.

Drama - Drama Club is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Cast size will vary depending on the play chosen, which will be in the Spring. There is a need for a crew to handle the backstage props and set, costumes and make up, in addition to the cast. When the call goes out for auditions in the Spring, you may sign up for either cast or crew at that time, but the crew won’t be needed until close to the opening of the play. The production will be in May.

Meeting Times:
Forensics will meet in the fall, September through December, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:45-3:45.

Drama Club will meet in the Spring, March through May, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:45 – 3:45, with added rehearsals the last month prior to the production date.

Gamers Guild

Club Info:
Gamers' Guild is a club for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who love to play strategy games. Originally started as chess club, Gamers’ Guild has expanded to include other appropriate strategy games. Students  play games that we have here at school as well as card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic,  where the cards are provided by the students.  This year we are excited to include cribbage as a challenging game for the students and we are looking forward to some tournaments, as well. No card trading is permitted at Gamers Guild.

Gamers’ Guild meets in the Media Center from 2:45 - 4:55 PM every Friday in which there is a full day school. There will be two release times for the students attending the guild. The first release will be at 3:55 and the second at 4:55. All students must have transportation arranged before signing into each Gamers’ Guild session. If students are staying for only one hour, please arrange for their pick up to be promptly at 4:00 pm or for students to ride the 4:00 p.m. activity bus. The same applies for the second release from Gamers’ Guild, prompt pick up at 5:00 pm or students should be ready to ride the 5:00 p.m. activity bus. (**During the winter months when the sun goes down before 4:55 p.m., Gamer's Guild is releasing all students at 3:55pm in order to accommodate the safety of those students who choose to walk home.)

Jazz Band

Club Info: 
Jazz Band meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They meet in the band room  from 2:45 - 4:00 PM

Intramurals

Club Info:
Our program is continuous from one semester to the next.  Intramurals is an afterschool activity primarily for 6th and 7th grade students that meet one to two times a week throughout the entire school year.  Our goal in intramurals is to provide an opportunity for students to receive an additional hour of safe, enjoyable physical activity through team games and sports. Students enrolled in intramurals are not required to have perfect attendance.  Students only need to attend the activities they enjoy.  We meet directly after school in the bleacher gym from 2:35 – 3:45 PM with the exception of two activities.  We bowl at Four Seasons and swim at the DeKalb High School pool.  Requirements:  a signed permission slip, and $35 fee for the year.  For more information or to sign up, please see Mrs. Ward.

Meeting Times:
We meet directly afterschool in the bleacher gym from 2:35 – 3:45 PM typically on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Please see the Intramural schedule that is loaded on the documents link.

Scholastic Bowl

Club Info:
Scholastic Bowl is like Team Jeopardy, in which students buzz in to answer questions on both academics and trivia. All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders participating should have transportation home arranged at 4 PM. Permission slips and parent information letters will be passed out the first meeting a student attends. Please listen to announcements for the start date. Students with conflicting sports are welcome to sign up for scholastic bowl during their off-seasons.

Meeting Times:
Every Thursday that we have a full day of school from 2:35-3:55 in room 202.  Please see a copy of the schedule electronically on the document page of our website.

Student Council

Club Info:
Student Council offers students leadership opportunities, provides a forum to identify, discuss and solve school issues, and promotes school spirit and civic mindedness. Students meet weekly to discuss school issues, plan school events and work on community service projects and fundraisers.

Meeting Times:
All meetings are held on alternating Wednesdays in Room 104 from 2:45-4:00.  Check bulletin board by cafeteria for more info.  Students may join at any point throughout the year

Study Club

Club Info:
Huntley Middle School offers an after school program for any student needing extra help with grades or a place to study, utilize materials, and computers. Study Club is a proven program that improves students’ grades by providing them with an opportunity to work quietly on assignments, study for tests, and work on protects with the assistance of a teacher. It also provides accountability for students and helps them to develop study skills that they will take with them to high school. Students are encouraged to bring their agendas containing their current homework assignments. Study Club is a program for students who are serious about their work and grades.

Meeting Times:
Study club is offered after school three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:45 until 3:45. Students are to report to Room 106 on time and with all necessary materials.

Yearbook

Club Info:
Yearbook club will offer students the chance to produce this year's Huntley Middle School Yearbook. Members will participate by taking pictures, helping design pages and choosing the cover.

Meeting Times:
Meetings will be held on Wednesday's in room 222 from 2:45-3:45 PM.
