Enrollment is open year round for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Projects range from ceramics to painting to creating safety posters to woodworking. There is a $10.00 fee per quarter to help pay for supplies.

Builders Club
Club Info:
The club is sponsored by Kiwanis, it is for students who want to take positive, constructive action to build a better world for themselves and others. Builders Club meets every other Wednesday after school.

Choir
Choir this year will participate in 4 concerts, IMEA Auditions and Festival, IGMSA solo/ensemble contest, IGSMA Choral Organizational contest, NCJC Festival and school assemblies.
Club Info:
The Junior Madrigal Troupe is in its fourth year at Huntley Middle School this year. The group will consist of 8-12 auditioned singers who will sing a cappella music. Madrigals is a fall / winter activity only. The group meets Mondays and Tuesday's from 2:30-3:45.

Meeting Times:
All Choir classes meet everyday during encore. 6th Grade, 1st period; 8th grade, 3rd period; 7th grade, 5th period.
There is a $25 fee for 6th grade to join choir to cover the cost of the uniform and one time music fee. There is a $15 fee for 7th/8th grade to cover the cost of the uniform.

Ebony Club
Club Info:
The HMS Ebony Club's mission is to provide activities that are cultural and educational. Members will strive to promote diversity and leadership. Students from all ethnic backgrounds are welcome to join. The general purpose will be to enhance the cultural and social activity that truly reflects the rich heritage of African-American students.
The Ebony Club at HMS will be advised by Mrs. Latricia Dawkins and partner with NIU’s Black Student Union to design cultural and social enrichment activities and opportunities to students.
It is the hope that involved students will learn how to function in leadership roles, develop organizational skills, and meet local African American dignitaries/leaders that can serve as role models/mentors, as well as travel to cities including Atlanta, the so-called “Black Mecca,” where students can witness numerous black owned and operated businesses.
Ultimately, the Ebony Club will serve as a vehicle to CREATE, CULTIVATE, and CHALLENGE students at HMS through community service, philanthropic ventures, entertainment, and quality programs and forums.
Meeting times:
Every 2nd and 4th Monday of the Month from 2:30-3:30…Students will be permitted to ride the activity bus. First Meeting September 26th in the Media Center.

Forensics
Club Info:
Forensics – The Forensics Team, open to 7th and 8th grade students, will display a combination of “official” Forensics events seen at the high school level, as well as a variety of monologues and short skits. There is a final presentation of all events in December.

Forensics will meet in the fall, September through December, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:25-3:45.

Drama Club
Drama - Drama Club is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Cast size will vary depending on the musical chosen, which will be in the Spring. There is a need for a crew to handle the backstage props and set, costumes and make up, in addition to the cast. When the call goes out for auditions in the Spring, you may sign up for either cast or crew at that time, but the crew won’t be needed until close to the opening of the play. The production will be in May.
For the 2011-12 school year, Reveal Day and Auditons will be in December and rehearsals will begin in January.
Drama Club will meet in the winter and spring, January through May, days to be determined, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, with added rehearsals the last month prior to the production date

Gamers Guild
Club Info:
Gamers' Guild is a club for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who love to play strategy games. Originally started as chess club, Gamers’ Guild has expanded to include other appropriate strategy games. Students play games that we have here at school as well as card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, where the cards are provided by the students. This year we are excited to include cribbage as a challenging game for the students and we are looking forward to some tournaments, as well. No card trading is permitted at Gamers Guild.
Gamers’ Guild meets in Room 148 from 2:25 - 3:50 PM every Friday in which there is a full day school. Please arrange for their pick up to be promptly at 4:00 pm or for students to ride the 4:00 p.m. activity bus. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Merritt, or Mrs. Omerod at 815-754-2241.

Club Info:
Jazz Band meets twice a week from 2:25 - 3:45 PM. The group performs on multiple concerts throughout the year and is open to any interested middle school musician. If you are interested please join the group in the bandroom after school.

Intramurals
Club Info:
Intramurals is an afterschool activity primarily for 6th and 7th grade students that meet one to two times a week throughout the entire school year. Our goal in intramurals is to provide an opportunity for students to receive an additional hour of safe, enjoyable physical activity through team games and sports. Students enrolled in intramurals are not required to have perfect attendance. Students only need to attend the activities they enjoy. We meet directly after school in the upper gym from 2:35 – 3:45 PM. Requirements: a signed permission slip, and $35 fee for the year. For more information or to sign up, please see Mrs. Ward.

Scholastic Bowl
Club Info:
Scholastic bowl is a team academic competition similar to "Team Jeopardy" - Students in grades 6-8 are able to join the team. Practices take place twice a week beginning in January. The team competes regularly in weekly meets and tournaments during the Spring semester. The HMS Scholastic Bowl team is currently the reigning NCJC Champions, Knowledge Power Tournament Champions, and Regional Champions. .

Student Council
Club Info:
Student Council offers students leadership opportunities, provides a forum to identify, discuss and solve school issues, and promotes school spirit and civic mindedness. Students meet weekly to discuss school issues, plan school events and work on community service projects and fundraisers.
Meeting Times:
All meetings are held on alternating Wednesdays in Room 104 from 2:45-4:00. Check bulletin board by cafeteria for more info. Students may join at any point throughout the year.

Study Club
Club Info:
Huntley Middle School offers an after school program for any student needing extra help with grades or a place to study, utilize materials, and computers. Study Club is a proven program that improves students’ grades by providing them with an opportunity to work quietly on assignments, study for tests, and work on protects with the assistance of a teacher. It also provides accountability for students and helps them to develop study skills that they will take with them to high school. Students are encouraged to bring their agendas containing their current homework assignments. Study Club is a program for students who are serious about their work and grades.
Students who are removed from study club once due to behavior will be unable to attend Study Club for one full week. Once a student has been removed twice from Study Club due to behavior they will no longer be able to attend for the remainder of the school year.

Study club is offered after school three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:30 until 3:30 PM. Students are to report to the Media Center on time and with all necessary materials.

Club Info:
Yearbook club will offer students the chance to produce this year's Huntley Middle School Yearbook. Memebers will participate by taking pictures, helping design pages and choosing the cover.
