 A Letter from the Principal

Mrs. Meyer’s Message:
Discover the Treasures in Self, School & Community

Just like many professions, teaching has evolved over the years.  Since formal education began, teachers have never wanted any child to be left behind the others; however, current legislation (No Child Left Behind) challenges us to prove that children are progressing as they should.  The emphasis is on data, ways for us to prove that the strategies and programs we are using are working.

In District #428, we are dedicated to using data to guide our instruction.  We watch to see how students respond to our reading and math lessons and check their progress regularly throughout the year.  Five times a year, we sit down as a team and look at each student’s progress in comparison to the state and local students in the same grade level.  We make decisions based on their assessment performance and how they have been performing in class.  We may decide to add some more instruction on a particular skill and watch to see if it was the right fit for the student.

Yes, education has evolved, yet one thing has remained constant.  Teachers care about each child and never, ever want to leave one behind.

Sincerely,

Cristy Meyer, Principal
