Dear Parents,
Welcome to Tyler Elementary School. It is with great honor and pride that I join our dedicated faculty, parents, and students to begin a new school year and be a part of the Tiger tradition. I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together to guide your child towards life-long learning and achievement. I look forward to establishing a strong and effective working relationship between your home and my office.
With the start of a new academic year it is especially important for all of our students to consider what their expectations are for the coming school year. As parents, we foster this learning moment by discussing our children’s goals with them in regards to academics, attitude, and behavior. If possible, I would encourage you to take a moment before school starts to have your child write down these goals, and place them in a location that can be reviewed on a periodic basis. Positive goal setting is the first step towards long-lasting personal achievement. In the weeks to come, you will also receive a list of my own personal goals for the school year.
This year at Tyler, we will continue to encourage all children and adults to embrace the expectations of our Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) framework in their daily choices and interactions. Through our continued commitment to our students, we know this will be a special year of growth, development, and achievement for your child.
Finally, I would like to encourage all parents to assist our staff as we continue to improve the channels of communication between Tyler and your home. We hope your family will be able to join us for our Back to School Bash on August 27th. This will be a great opportunity for us to build the vital home-school partnership that drives student success.
At Tyler Elementary School, we know the 2009-2010 school year will be a great one. Please join us in making it a remarkable one.
With Tiger Pride,
Andria Mitchell
